re: PETA PROTEST

A very special treat this weekend at the Dallas Dog Show, a real life
protest from the members of PETA!!!
This was very exciting to see these folks in action and making their
point of view known.
In reality it was four "ladies" holding eight signs that stood on a curb
for 90 min.
A personal observation there could have been more clothes for the
protesters. I know they were wanting to be noticed but really the point
was a bit lost.
If the short shorts are a PETA trademark perhaps they could get a group
rate at BALLY'S ?
I don't really get the connection of people promoting breed betterment and
responsible ownership of purebred dogs needing to be protested ... but it was
fun anyway.
Certainly these animal lovers could not find anything more to do that would
have a positive impact for dogs so they headed to a dog show.
Too bad it was scheduled so close to lunch time and they had to wrap it up
so soon.
They did have some real impact for me personally as I got the veggie wrap
and passed on the chips.

re: Dallas Dog Laws

Recently the Dallas City Council passed a sweeping legislation restricting
dog ownership in Dallas.
While it is common sense that you can have only so many pets in town
it was really a lot more about the money they could raise selling us back our
rights.
Amazingly enough they managed to make the leap that breeders of show dogs
were filling the shelters.
So they will sell back the right to people to breed their own dogs, and that
will keep shelter dogs numbers down ... clear as mud!
People that are wanting a maltese puppy will not be finding that puppy in the
shelter and they probably will not take a pittbull X border collie cross instead.
We live in the county and this is not an issue for us personally but as we freely
give our rights away eventually it will be a constraint for all Americans.
Ignore your rights and they will go away!

re: Questions

We have been getting the questions on co-ownerships of your new maltese puppy.
Since the inquiring parties did not want their notes posted on our BLOG, we will respect
their wishes.
The answer is, you should avoid co-ownerships at all costs!
Contact the American Kennel Club and ask them about the rights and responsibilities of
co-owning registered dogs.
Consider it much the same as co-signing a note or putting another name on the title of
your car.
Most disputes that go all of the way to a court of law involve a co-ownership.
It always starts out well and when there is money changing hands and a new puppy involved
who could imagine the future issues.
All decisions of medical care, showing, breeding, must be equally decided by BOTH owners.
Either owner can keep the dog from the other owner if they wish and co-owners steal
custody back and forth all of the time.
If you must co-own, go to a lawyer and have a contract with the opening consideration,
the promised action of both co-owners, and then the closing of the contract that will involve
the dog to one owner.
Write in for death, illness, theft, and all other things that could lead to disputes.
Have not yet seen the dog worth co-owning!

re: Cherub's Chipmunk

This is a new boy we are growing out to show.
Chipmunk is still not quite two pounds but he is promising to
grow enough to make 4!
He really enjoys the lead and its a rare occasion for him to
sit still for a pic :) !
I will post his pedigree later for those interested.
